My name is Tamzyn Alexander and I currently live in Melbourne Victoria.

I have recently completed my post-graduate Masters of teaching (secondary) course from Australian Catholic University (ACU) and my other qualifications and teaching experiences are as follows:

• 20-day placement at Clayton North completed in 2021.

• 20-day placement at Oakleigh Grammar completed in 2022.

• 20-day placement at Balcombe Grammar completed in 2023.

• 13 years as a private music teacher.

• Grade 8 singing AMEB.

• Bachelor of Music completed in 2014.

• Bachelor of Arts completed in 2014.

After completing my double degree from ACU in 2014 I then continued to do various opera training courses with Gertrude Opera from 2014-2016.

From 2016 until 2019 I engaged with various opera companies such as Citi Opera, Australian International Opera Company, Savoy Opera and the Melbourne Bach Choir, often singing the role of coloratura soprano where I performed numerous roles such as Zerbinetta from Strauss’s Ariadne auf Naxos and Olympia from Offenbach’s Tales of Hoffmann. I also engaged in various singing competitions and won awards such as 1st place and the Robert Stolz award for the Operetta/ Music Theatre section in Boroondara vocal eisteddfod and placed as a semi-finalist in the German Australia Opera Grant.

From 2010 until this present day I have been teaching students of all ages singing, piano and music theory and have loved every minute of it. Whilst I will never forget the thrill of performing on stage, it became clear that teaching and inspiring a love of the performing arts in young learners was where my heart truly lay. Nothing pleases me more than a student leaving my instrumental room with a smile, a sense of confidence and belonging.

I am a hard-working, dedicated person who loves a challenge with an energetic and out-going personality, and while I embrace all social events with ease, it’s so important to have a sense of balance in your life. I work hard but well-being is never far from my mind, as such, I have engaged with various hobbies such as karate and drawing.
